I had a yellow-throated plated lizard and his name was Gilad. I love reptiles and amphibians. Snakes are my favorite, but lizards are right up there too. Gilad had such a long, skinny body that alot of people thought he was actually a snake. Then they saw he had legs and would say something like "Oh my god your snake has legs!" LOL!
I miss Gilad. He was a nice lizard and fun to watch. Our cats were fascinated by him, especially Lars. He would sit and watch Gilad for a long time. Gilad always came over to the glass and stared right back at Lars. It was like they were telepathically talking to each other. Lars is a little "slower" than normal cats and it took him a few days after Gilad had died to remember that the tank was gone. He would go over to where he usually sat with Gilad and sit like he always did. Then he'd look around with a look on his face that said "what happened?" then start sniffing where the tank was. I can tell Lars was sad that his buddy was gone. Here is a pic of Gilad...
Here is a video of Gilad eating some meal worms. In the video you'll see he keeps rubbing his eye on stuff. There's nothing wrong with his eye, he has a loose scale around it that he's working on shedding off.
Our school had a snake show last year and I was able to help Dan a little during some of the shows. It was sooooooo awesome to see and hold so many different herptiles (for those that don't know, herptiles is a word to describe both reptiles and amphibians together) I could have taken them all home with me!!
He had a baby corn snake. I'd have to say corn's are my favorite snakes. They are so gentle and just the right size for a pet snake. I used to have a couple corn snakes along with many other critters in the herptile family. I miss all my babies and hope to someday have them again.
Here's a pic of the baby corn he had at the show. It's an amelenistic corn. Amelenistic means that the snake is missing it's black/brown pigment melanin. Some people call these snakes red albino's.
Another one of my favorites Dan had at the show was a baby alligator. This little guy was so relaxed and friendly I just fell in love with him. He's the guy I used for the background for this page, and here's another pic of him...

Here is a pic of my son holding one of the box turtles...
